This trip so far has been above average… I would definitely give it to A- on the grounds of doing what we set out to do… and that’s WOO the glorious United States of America. We proved that it is possible to make create real friendships and camaraderie through a site like WooMe.
TheOysta and I have decided to re-route our trip back to California, and have plans to start a weekly entitled “Rdot + Oysta TV” as a way to continue the spirit of the trip until we can manage to WOO the east coast in the fall. Because Oysta plans to move New York by the end of the Summer, I am hoping to do a mini-roadtrip up to New York in the upcoming months. Of course, I would have to meet up with him in some random shady drug-dealer infested New York alleyway.
The mantra of the trip was to “do it big!” and I’d like to maintain that mentality in my everyday life. I am reminded of a discussion I had with Marrena when i was in San Diego when I told her “In order to be big you have to BE big!”.
So what happens next? We head back to California to plot our next moves, any ideas regarding any idea that was idealically indealified would be appreciated.
With hopes of jumping 60 ft. cliffs that Derik told us about, we sought out Lake Travis. After taking nearly an hour and half because of a Garmin GPS, we encountered the smelliest toilet in the universe before stumbling upon a nice jumping point.
John was a little more willing than me to leap like an unmasked Bruce Wayne into the muggy waters.
After a super fun night in Fort Worth, Texas, it was FINALLY time to embark to Austin. Thankfully, the drive wasn’t bad at all and we were able to meet up with my step brother Derek who I had seen in almost 7 years! From there we met up with Britney at the hotel room and headed off to 6th Street, the hot night spot in town, and hit up a couple bars. First, we stopped at The Chuggin Monkey for a few drinks. Although it was a Sunday night, we were still able to have fun on our own, singing and dancing to the bar music. Our night was topped off with a stop at The Blind Pig Pub where we met up with woome.com user Diana. All in all, the night was a huge success, aside from waking up the next morning and realizing i left my debit card at The Blind Pig. Here is a quick lil mix I made up from the night’s events…
“Is this a joke, boy?” the slightly overweight salesman originally from Ft. Worth said with a relaxed demeanor. He gave me two options:
Redneck style ($250)
Cowboy style ($900)
After explaining to him our endeavors to make it to New York staying on woo-peoples’ couches, I agreed on the coolest (and least expensive) Lone Star state get-up.
Nothing wrong with a little role playing, as long as it’s harmless and mutually agreed upon.
TheOysta and I, on the backend of our Albuquerque stop decided to check out some local attractions before we took off on our Eastern Journey. At the University of New Mexico we discussed how we wanted to be Lobos simply because the logo looked so damn cool. Because “The Pit” was closed (UoNM’s basketball stadium) we had to simply imagine how cool it would be to watch a game from the front row… but we got over that pretty quickly.
